Recent and ongoing projects

Mission:

DPMECUADOR is carrying out exploration and development activities for the Loma Larga mining project, located in the province of Azuay, Ecuador, classified by the government as one of the national strategic projects. Insuco was responsible for: i) updating the social baseline study, in accordance with IFC Performance Standard No. 1; ii) preparing the Human Rights Risk and Impact Assessment (HRIA); and iii) preparing the Health and Safety Plan in the communities located in the area of influence in order to comply with IFC Performance Standards No. 1 and 4.

The project was structured around the following components:

• Mapping of actors and interest groups (at social, human rights and health levels)
• Delimitation of the study area and census and sampling strategy
• Definition of indicators for the collection of socio-economic and cultural information; actual, perceived, potential and accumulated risks and impacts on human rights; and health and safety risks and emergencies related to the project.
• Information collection operation and its processing
• Analysis of social risks and impacts, human rights and health and safety
• Capacity Building Workshop for DPMECUADOR

Results:
