Update of the Social Baseline (SBC) for decision-making in the framework of Collective Mining's Social Management Plan
Mission:
The project aimed to conduct a Social Baseline in the municipalities of Marmato and Supía, Caldas, within the framework of Collective Mining’s management strategy and its study of the impact it has had on the populations of the region. As a multinational mining company, Collective faced the challenge of managing a positive relationship with populations engaged in artisanal mining, who have historically been affected by the intervention of other international mining companies.
A Social Baseline had previously been conducted with Collective in 2020, and the objective of this new exercise was to provide a comparative sample to assess the impact that Collective has had since its arrival in the territory. The project was part of a sustainability strategy that Collective Mining developed in the region, which included modules on health, work, and a component on indigenous communities, as their presence in the region is significant. The survey was conducted in the municipality of Supía, in 3 veredas, with the remaining 6 in Marmato; the survey was conducted in a total of 340 households.
Results:
The following deliverables were given to the client:
- Work plan, Functional form and survey on Ona, Analysis indicators.
- Baseline implementation in the field
