Recent and ongoing projects

Mission:

As part of the San Pedro Autonomous Port Expansion Project (PASP), Insuco was asked to conduct a complementary social impact assessment that takes into consideration the socio-economic impacts on the communities surrounding the port, in particular the fishermen, and that complies with current Ivorian regulations and IFC/WB performance standards, as well as a human rights report

The specific objectives were as follows:

• Identification of the area of influence of the project;
• Identification and consultation of all project stakeholders;
• Identification, analysis and evaluation of social impacts during the construction and operation phases through the development of a matrix;
• Establishment of the socio-economic situation of the people impacted by the project;
• Proposal of mitigation measures for negative impacts and improvement measures for positive impacts and evaluation of residual impacts;
• Proposal of a strategy for the implementation of measures through an operational, sustainable social and environmental management plan (PGES) adapted to the project;
• Brief presentation of the specific management plans recommended for implementation;
• Analysis of the impacts on human rights and proposal of impact mitigation measures​.

Results:

The following deliverables were provided to the client:

• A socio-economic baseline including annexes (survey questionnaire, socio-economic database, photos and minutes of consultations, etc);
• A cultural heritage baseline including annexes (photos, maps with location and GPS coordinates of objects and sites);
• A socio-economic impact assessment including a cumulative impact analysis, a social and environmental management plan (SEMP) and an analysis of alternatives;
• A human rights assessment report.
