Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) for the three Regional Development Plans of the Maldives - Maldives
Mission:
The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure is currently implementing the Maldives Urban Development and Resilience Project (MUDRP), which among other objectives aims to develop three Regional Development Plans that will increase regional competition, environmental sustainability, and resilience across the island nation. Regional development is one part of a much broader National Development Plan for the Maldives, encompassing human development, economic diversification, environmental sustainability, good governance, and healthy lifestyles.
The objective of this Project is to conduct a Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) for each region, including a scoping study, in order to improve the design of the Regional Development Plans from an environmental and social perspective.
This involves an identification of positive and negative impacts, a strategic analysis of their significance, and recommendations for enhancing positive impacts and mitigating potential negative impacts.
