Social impact analysis for the design of the Ngoc Hoi Railway Station Complex - Vietnam
Mission:
The World Bank is supporting the Hanoi Department of Transport (DOT) to develop the Ngoc Hoi railway station complex, which aims to provide and/or improve a range of transport services including high-speed rail and regional and urban railway systems. The chosen location of the complex is in a predominantly agricultural area on the outskirts of the city, close to several rural villages and with minimal urban infrastructure at present. The site will cover an area of 251 hectares, and including the integrated transport solutions the complex will include facilities for train storage, maintenance and repair, and manufacturing. This assignment will provide an update and expansion of the 2014 masterplan developed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Insuco is sub-contracted by AREP, the project lead, to conduct the social impact analysis for the Project.
The general objective of the study is to provide AREP (and the World Bank) with a social impact analysis of the project, related primarily to local stakeholder perceptions and the potential impacts of different design scenarios.
Results:
Insuco has delivered the following deliverables:
· A legal review and gap analysis
· A social impact analysis.
