Review of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the Simplified Master Plan and the Feasibility Study for the Upgrade and Extension of Drinking Water Supply Systems in Tashkent Region – Uzbekistan

Mission:
The French Development Agency (AFD) has been asked by the Republic of Uzbekistan to study the possibility of financing three water supply projects in seven districts located in three provinces (Kashkadarya, Fergana et Tachkent).
Within this framework, feasibility studies and Environmental and Social Impact Assessments have been carried out.
The mission consisted of reviewing the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment reports in order to identify compliance gaps with the national legal framework and the World Bank’s environmental and social standards. The expert then made recommendations to AFD to address these gaps.
The review was conducted remotely.
Results:
The following deliverables were provided to the client:
- Gap identification and analysis report and recommendations.
