Recent and ongoing projects

Mission:

The general objective of this Project, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is to provide support to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) of Colombia in the process of advancing the Gender Equity Guidelines for the Mining and Energy Sector.

Insuco, in partnership with CoreWoman, implemented the following activities:

• Design and implementation of a public-private partnership scheme to advance the Gender Equity Guidelines for the Mining and Energy Sector published by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) in March 2020 (monthly meetings with the IDB, MME, as well as companies and unions of the sector);
• Elaboration of the baseline study of the situation of gender equality in the mining and energy sector in Colombia;
• In-depth support to 5 organizations (companies and unions of the sector) for the development of their Gender Action Plans;
• Organization of thematic training webinars on the 4 axes of the Ministry’s Guidelines;
• Support for the organization of an awards event seeking to highlight the best sectoral practices that help to advance the implementation of the Ministry’s Guidelines, and design and dissemination of a presentation document of the winning initiatives in the Gender category.

Results:

The following products were delivered to the client:

• Updated work plan and timeline;
• Baseline report (or “Sectorial Study”) of the mining-energy sector in terms of gender equity;
• Material produced in the framework of the public-private partnership scheme (presentations, communication material, etc.);
• Gender Diagnostics and Action Plans for companies (3) and unions (2);
• Thematic virtual workshops (3);
• Monitoring matrix for the implementation of the Guidelines for the Ministry of Mines and Energy;
• Brief called “Gender and COVID-19: Employment, informality and women’s welfare in the mining-energy sector in times of pandemic”;
• Final report.
