Recent and ongoing projects

Mission:

Insuco was commissioned to conduct a diagnostic study of rural land transaction practices and sustainable scenarios for the acquisition of Cajou Espoir’s rights to land.

The specific objectives of the study were as follow:

• Conduct a literature review;
• Conduct a field survey on: (i) local land acquisition practices in the Tchamba area; (ii) the interest of local actors in the Cajou Espoir project; (iii) the prices of land transactions in the Tchamba area;
• Identify land acquisition formulas and discuss them during focus groups with local actors;
• Develop financial models for each of the formulas;
• Develop recommendations on the most appropriate formula(s).

Results:

A study was submitted to the client, including:

• a comprehensive literature review;
• the results of the field investigations;
• practical, legal and financial details of the land acquisition formulas;
• recommendations on the most appropriate formulas.
