Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) for the operational phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project between Dhaka Airport and Gazipur City – Bangladesh

Mission:
As the construction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line between Dhaka Airport and Gazipur was nearing completion, AFD sought to identify and mitigate against the main environmental and social impacts anticipated during the operation phase of the BRT project.
Insuco conducted a comprehensive desk review of legal, regulatory and project documents, and consulted with key project stakeholders in order to produce an Environmental and Social Management Framework for both AFD and the future BRT operator. This assessment also included technical, environmental and social guidance related to the procurement of buses and construction plans for Phase II of the BRT operation.
Results:
The following deliverables have been submitted to the client:
· Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF);
· Table of Corrective Measures.
