Mission:
Insuco were tasked with developing an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Environmental and Social Mitigation Framework (ESMF) for the Sabah Landscapes Programme in Malaysia (Borneo). The Sabah Landscapes Programme is a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to tackling environmental, social and ecological challenges in the Sabah region of Malaysia. These challenges relate to the impacts of deforestation, uncertified palm oil production, and poaching, among others. The aim of the mission was to understand current environmental and social context across the four main landscapes, assess the impact of WWF’s interventions, and provide recommendations for mitigating any potential negative impacts for the remainder of the programme.
Results:
The following deliverables have been submitted to the client:
· Environmental and Social Impact Assessment;
· Environmental and Social Mitigation Framework;
· Risk management recommendations for indigenous populations.
