Mission:

In this case, the Legacy Landscapes Fund seeks to finance the conservation management of the Yasuní Legacy Landscape (LL). In order to assess the environmental and social safeguard procedures proposed for management, Insuco conducts an environmental and social due diligence against the LLF environmental and social standards (based on the World Bank (NES 1-10), focusing mainly on the operation of law enforcement personnel, land use planning, access and restrictions, relevant cooperation with local stakeholders, especially community groups and indigenous peoples, in a conservation context.

Results:

Insuco has implemented the following activities and products

• In-depth documentary review to describe and assess the physical, biological, socio-economic and cultural context of the program,
• Design of primary data collection methods and tools, as well as the security plan for the mission,
• Identification and assessment of potential risks and impacts that could result from the implementation of the social and environmental management of the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve, as well as contextual risks,
• Gap analysis on the inclusion and compliance with the LLF NES to avoid, manage, mitigate and/or remedy environmental and social risks that may arise from management in the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve.
