Recent and ongoing projects

Mission:

A culturally appropriate capacity building program was designed and implemented for communities in the direct area of influence of the Gran Tierra concessions. The program consisted of three modules including: (i) conservation and development, (ii) values and relationships, and (iii) human rights and the environment. In addition, the capacity building program helped identify potential positive leaders within the community, with a focus on empowering the vulnerable population, including women and youth. In addition, a participatory monitoring process was established through the formation of a transparency committee composed of community members.

Results:

The following results were provided to the client:

• Review and analysis of information;
• Preliminary community awareness;
• Identification of positive stakeholders;
• Design and implementation of the Development and Conservation module;
• Design and implementation of the “Values and Relationships” module;
• Design and implementation of the module on human rights and the environment;
• Evaluation of the capacity building process;
• Presentation of a certificate of participation to participants;
• Formation of a transparency committee
