NSUCO Haiti carried out a mission in Cité Soleil
INSUCO Haiti carried out a mission in Cité Soleil as part of the gender, health and safety at work diagnostic. The study consists of identifying potential #HSE risks from the point of view of employees and subcontractors, and proposing mitigation measures and recommendations.
As part of this mandate, Odniel Josema (Field Officer) and Sarah Mangonès (International Gender and Occupational Safety Expert) travelled to Cité Soleil in the south of Port-au-Prince to conduct consultation activities with the various stakeholders of #WINECO.
To this end, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the main executives and managers of the different sections of WINECO, as well as mixed and single gender focus groups (exclusively #women) with employees and subcontractors.
The #photolangage method was used to encourage participants to express their experience of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) risks through images that they were asked to describe and compare with their own perception. These meetings were supplemented by direct observation of the site by the expert. All these activities made it possible to measure the differentiated impact of workplace risks on male and female workers.
