Adrian Levrel and Margaux Nicot, Country Director and Technical Coordinator of Insuco Madagascar, with the support of Virginie Tallio, Director of the IFSRA Institute, took part in the international symposium focused on dialogue and knowledge building around the ecological stakes and challenges in Madagascar and the Indian Ocean.

This event, held in Antsiranana, Madagascar, on November 27th, brought together numerous key actors (local authorities, academics, NGOs, donors, consultancy firms, students, etc.) on the subject, and enabled scientific and technical debates to be initiated with the objective of finding transdisciplinary solutions to environmental issues.

During this conference, Adrian and Margaux had the opportunity to share their thoughts on “social integration in environmental planning“. Based on the example of three case studies, they described how a tool originally designed to collect data has finally evolved into a decision-making tool. Tools such as those, developed by Insuco, have become essential for acquiring transdisciplinary knowledge of a territory and above all for catalyzing a landscape approach and the commitment of the various actors upstream and downstream of data collection.

The event was also an opportunity to communicate on the Insuco and IFSRA (Institute for Social Research in Africa) activities in the world and particularly on the big island.
